Regulations
These regulations define the principles for using the internet bookstore of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum and for making purchases there. Please read them before making a purchase.
§ 1
Owner of the internet bookstore
The owner of the internet bookstore accessible at www.auschwitz.org is the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, located at ul. Więźniów Oświęcimia 20, 32-600 Oświęcim, Poland.
The Museum is entered in the register of National Cultural Institutions as number P-0276015-3400000053-1-831-07225, as attested by registration book RNIK 22/92.
For the purposes of the internet bookstore, the Museum maintains a bank account in the Bielsko-Biała branch of the Bank PKO S.A.
The Museum's NIP (Polish tax identification number) is 549-000-55-49, and its REGON (Polish statistical registry number) is 000276015
§ 2
Modes of Sales
The Museum's internet bookshop sells books online.
§ 3
Purchasing merchandise
In order to purchase items you must:
- add the selected products to the shopping basket;
- give shipping and invoice information;
- select method of payment and means of shipping;
- complete the order form;
- confirm the order form.
§ 4
Placing orders
Submitting the completed order form constitutes the placing of an order. The order is filled:
- in the case of orders payable on delivery or by bank transfer, at the moment the Museum receives an e-mail from the client confirming the order;
- in the case of orders payable by credit card, at the moment the transaction is authorized.
§ 5
Purchases by minors
Purchase agreements may be entered into by persons over 18. Persons under 18 may do so only with the knowledge and under the supervision of their legal guardians.
§ 6
Protection of personal data
The client's personal data as provided on the order form are protected under law. We guarantee the security of your personal data, which we use only to fill your order and which we never share with any other party.
§ 7
Data processing and filling your order
By completing and confirming the order form, you express your consent to the processing of your personal data to the extent necessary for filling your order, and you agree to the filling of your order on the principles contained in these regulations.
§ 8
VAT (Value Added Tax) Invoice
Each order is accompanied by a VAT invoice in your name.
§ 9
Cancellation of orders
You can cancel an order by sending an e-mail to: . Once the merchandise you order has been shipped, the order can no longer be cancelled, but you can still return the merchandise, see § 15.
§ 10
Prices and currency
Prices of merchandise are given in PLN and are gross prices. Prices become binding at the moment of placing the order. We reserve the right to change the prices of merchandise, add new merchandise, or modify merchandise already on offer.
§ 11
Shipping costs
Shipping costs are added to each order on the basis of the weight and the form of payment. On the order form, you can choose the shipping method to be used.
§ 12
Orders are delivered by Poczta Polska postal services. The Museum is not to be held responsible for any delays through the postal services.
§ 13
Failed transactions
Should it be impossible to fill all or part of your order, we will inform you of this by email. If payment has already been made, we will refund by bank transfer the amount of payment involved in the part of the order that could not be realized.
§ 14
Forms of payment
You may choose the following means of payment for your purchases:
- payment on delivery (payable to the letter carrier or at the post office on delivery—available only within Poland);
- prepayment to the Museum's bank account;
- payment by credit card.
§ 15
Return of merchandise after sale
Under the terms of the law of March 2, 2000 (Dziennik Ustaw nr 22 poz. 271) "On the protection of certain consumer rights and liability for damages caused by unsafe products," you have the right to return merchandise purchased in our store, without providing a reason, within ten days of delivery. This is only possible in cases where the merchandise has not been used, copied, or damaged in any way.
DVDs, CDs must be returned in the original, unopened, and undamaged wrapping. This also applies to books wrapped in protective transparent foil.
Returned merchandise must be accompanied by the invoice. We will refund the price of the merchandise. The refund will be made by bank transfer to an account specified by you, or by postal money order to the address on the order form. We will not refund shipping and delivery costs.
§ 16
Refunds
You may request a refund for merchandise that is faulty or damaged in shipping. Mail the merchandise to the Museum at:

Send the VAT invoice along with the faulty merchandise. After obtaining the merchandise and confirming that it is faulty, we will refund the costs you incurred in returning it to us.
Faulty merchandise will be replaced. If this is not possible (because the merchandise is sold out, for example), we will refund the cost of the merchandise.
§ 17
Resolution of disputes
Any disputes connected with purchase orders will be resolved in the appropriate court within the jurisdiction of which the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum is located.
§ 18
The provisions of the Polish Civil Code are binding in all matters not covered by these Regulations.
§ 19
Changes in Regulations
We reserve the right to change these Regulations.
