The Arbeit macht frei sign over the historical gate of the Auschwitz I main camp has been put back together after being destroyed by thieves. Detailed analysis and expert advice enabled conservationists to restore it to almost exactly the condition it was in before the theft.

Digitalization of the Auschwitz Memorial Archives

The archives of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum hold thousands of original documents from the German Nazi Concentration Camp with the names of thousands of prisoners of the camp. Since 1991 the Museum has been at work on the project to digitize those records.

66. anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz

January 27, 2011 marks the passage of 66 years since the liberation of the German Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camp Auschwitz. During the anniversary observances Professor Władysław Bartoszewski, former prisoner and initiator of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation, addressed a special Appeal to the entire world for help in maintaining the authentic original remains of the former camp.

Let's Build Remembrance Exhibition

E-learning about Auschwitz

The Auschwitz Museum is the first institution of its type to implement a pilot online education program. The initiative by the International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust has spurred great interest among Internet users. Although the course is currently available only in Polish, there have been declarations of interest from people outside Poland.
