January 27, 2011 marks the passage of 66 years since the liberation of the German Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camp Auschwitz. During the anniversary observances Professor Władysław Bartoszewski, former prisoner and initiator of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation, addressed a special Appeal to the entire world for help in maintaining the authentic original remains of the former camp.
Personal mementos, documents, and works of art connected with the history of the German Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camp Auschwitz donated to the Museum by former prisoners and their relatives can be seen at the Let's Build Remembrance exhibition on the premises of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum.
The Auschwitz Museum is the first institution of its type to implement a pilot online education program. The initiative by the International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust has spurred great interest among Internet users. Although the course is currently available only in Polish, there have been declarations of interest from people outside Poland.
