Possibility to visit the Auschwitz Memorial on May 30 and 31

The Auschwitz Memorial will be temporarily open to individual visitors on May 30th and 31st. The rules of a visit have been adjusted to new sanitary requirements. Former camp site will be available for visitors from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. for a tour without an educator, only after prior e-mail registration.

These two days will constitute a test before the implementation of a new visit mode and making the historical space available. The information on the date of opening the Memorial Site again for visitors will be provided on a later date. It probably will not happen before the end of June.

“A special visit route will be prepared for the visitors, minimizing the number of places where the visitors of the Museum may have contact with one another. We will install an outside exhibition in some places within the former Auschwitz I camp, which will make it possible to see and learn stories of the interiors temporarily closed for visitors, for example the basement of Block 11”, said Andrzej Kacorzyk, Deputy Director of the Museum.

In the period of sanitary and epidemiological restrictions, it is of utmost importance for us to ensure the safety of our visitors and Memorial Site staff members. For this reason, the limit of number of people remaining within the site at a time will be significantly reduced, together with the implementation of numerous safety solutions connected in particular with the entrance to the Museum, aimed at minimizing the risk of coronavirus spreading.

“Contactless hand disinfection devices are going to be placed in several visible locations within the Museum. Within its premises it will also be obligatory to cover mouth and nose, keep 2 meters distance from other visitors as well as disinfect the hands before entering the exposition”, Andrzej Kacorzyk emphasized.

All procedures have been approved by appropriate sanitary services.

It will be possible to enter Museum exclusively holding a personalized entrance card. It will authorize to enter both former Auschwitz I as well as Auschwitz II-Birkenau camp sites. Beforehand it is necessary to contact in order to specify exact entrance time. You can send the requests until Friday, 29 May at noon.
