Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation ranks among the best
Among the highest earning foundations in Poland, in third place was the Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation. The statement was prepared by the prestigious Forbes business magazine on the basis of financial statements for the year 2011.
Set up in 2009, the task of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation is to raise € 120 million for the Fund, the profits from with will be used to preserve the remains of the former Nazi German concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz. The total revenues of the Foundation last year amounted to PLN 66 233 871.89. This is more than in the case of The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity and Polish Humanitarian Action.
“The Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation has existed a little over three years and is still in its early stage of development. These three years I remember as an extremely absorbing period of work,” says Piotr M.A. Cywiński, President of the Board of the Foundation. “I am, of course, already happy with the actual results of this unique global project, but let's face it - a lot remains to be done to ensure the safety of conservation of this largest Memorial Site in the world,” emphasises Cywiński.
In June of this year at the Auschwitz Memorial Site, the Global Conservation Planwas officially launched , an annual conservation work programme financed by the profit from the Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation Perpetual Fund.
