MEMORIAL AND MUSEUM AUSCHWITZ-BIRKENAU FORMER GERMAN NAZI
CONCENTRATION AND EXTERMINATION CAMP

Conferences

The International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust organizes both international and nationwide conferences for teachers, educators, and representatives of memorial sites. These events provide opportunities to exchange views and experiences regarding new teaching methods, as well as to present the current state of scholarly research on the history of the Second World War.

The conferences also address issues related to the nature and consequences of totalitarian systems, contemporary cases of genocide, and education about the Holocaust and human rights.

International Educational Conferences

An international educational conference organized every two years by the International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust. The event is intended for experts: researchers, museum professionals, teachers, representatives of memorial sites, and various organizations whose work involves the history and memory of the Second World War, Auschwitz, the Holocaust, and other genocides.

The conference addresses the challenges that the contemporary world poses for Holocaust education. It serves as a forum where specialists from different fields meet, and where their discussions inspire and motivate the search for new methods and approaches to historical education.
Held regularly every two years, at the turn of June and July, the conference is one of the Museum’s flagship projects.

National Methodological Conference for Teachers in Cooperation with WCIES

Together with the Warsaw Centre for Educational and Social Innovation and Training (WCIES), we organize an annual methodological conference for teachers and educators. The conference takes place in the second half of August at the Auschwitz Museum. The program includes around 20 hours of instruction and covers a wide range of topics.

This nationwide event is intended primarily for active teachers who place great importance on continuous professional development, seek new approaches and innovative methods of teaching about Auschwitz, the Holocaust, and the Second World War, and wish to remain in an inspiring dialogue with other teachers and educators from across Poland.
