"History, Memory and Responsibility" is the title of the English-language seminar for journalists at the Auschwitz Memorial. It will take place from 5 to 8 October 2026 (October 5 & 8 are the arrival and departure days; tours on October 8 are optional).

Eighty-two years ago, on the night of 2-3 August 1944, the Germans liquidated the so-called family camp for Gypsies (Zigeunerfamilienlager) in Auschwitz II-Birkenau. Around 4,300 children, women and men, the last Roma prisoners of the camp, were murdered in the gas chambers.

'Memoria' is an online magazine dedicated to the history of Auschwitz, the Holocaust as well as memory and education around the world.

Below we publish the text of a joint declaration signed by 32 European Memorial Sites connected with crimes committed by Nazi Germany and its collaborators during the Second World War.

A collection of letters and documents related to Jan Nowak, a physician from Kraków who, as a prisoner of German Nazi concentration camps, worked in camp hospitals and helped other prisoners, has been donated to the Auschwitz Museum Archives. The documents, including a letter sent from the camp and seven letters sent to the camp by his relatives, were donated on 11 July by Marek Trybulski, owner of the Kraków Numismatic Salon.
