Conference on music and violence at Auschwitz

“Music, Memory, Violence in Auschwitz-Birkenau” was the title of a conference held at the International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust on 26-28 November 2025. The project was organized by the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, and the Research Institute for Music Theatre Studies (fimt) of the Bayreuth University in cooperation with Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum.

Director of the Auschwitz Memorial Director of the Auschwitz Museum appointed Officer of the French Legion of Honour

Dr. Piotr M. A. Cywiński, Director of the Auschwitz Memorial, has been awarded the National Order of the Legion of Honour in the rank of Officer. The Legion of Honour is the highest state distinction of the French Republic. The ceremony took place on 20 November at the Residence of the Ambassador of France in Warsaw.

42nd session of the International Auschwitz Council

On 18 and 19 November, the 42nd Session of the International Auschwitz Council, chaired by Prof. Dariusz Stola, was held at the Auschwitz Memorial. Council members were able to view the nearly completed first of three parts of the New Main Exhibition, which will soon be made available to Museum visitors.

Polish Television will broadcast the commemorations of the liberation of Auschwitz for the next five years.

Polish Television will produce the television signal and broadcast the commemorations of the upcoming anniversaries of the liberation of the German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz in the years 2026–2030. The agreement was signed on 19 November by Dr. Piotr M. A. Cywiński, Director of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, and Tomasz Sygut, Director General of TVP. The signing took place at the Auschwitz Museum during a session of the International Auschwitz Council, in the presence of Deputy Minister of Culture and National Heritage Marek Krawczyk.
